Xiaomi started as a company for designing cell phone interfaces and it was hugely successful in this field, which encouraged it to enter the market for mobile phones in which it also achieved great success and in such a short period of time, it was able to establish a name for itself amongst all the big companies.

Today we’re going to talk about Xiaomi Mi A1, the first collaboration between Xiaomi and Google,  supported by Google’s latest Android version, which is Androud 1. Specifications for Xiaomi Mi A1

Description

• Phone exterior is metal
• The power button is located on the right side.
• The volume control buttons are located on the right.
• Headphones port and an additional noise-reduction microphone are located on the top.
• The microphone, charging port and external speakers are located at the bottom of the device.
• The display has a front camera and LED notifications lamp.
• The back of the phone has 2 back camera with dual LED flash and fingerprint sensor.

Display

Pros

• The screen is 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with a density of 403 pixels.
• The screen is equipped with protective anti-breakage layer, Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Cons

• None.

User Experience

• Screen resolution is great in different lighting conditions and the screen size is 5.5 inches which is a favorite for many users.
• The only downside that many users noticed regarding the screen is that black colors in videos or images will appear gray to the person next to you or if you look at the screen from an angle.
• Control buttons are located outside the phone screen and are illuminated, which makes it easier to users to use them in dim places.
• The edges are a bit big, however not in a way that makes the phone less aesthetically pleasing.

Performance

Pros

• The phone comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, a 4GB RAM, a 64 GB internal memory and Adreno 506 graphics card.
• The phone supports the use of two SIM cards and an external memory card of up to 128 GB.
• The phone has features including fingerprint sensor technology, gyroscope, steps counter, and compass.
• It comes with the latest user interface version, Android 1.

Cons

• You can’t run 2 SIM cards and a memory card at the same time; you have to choose 1 SIM card along with a memory card or 2 SIM cards.
• It doesn’t support FM radio.

User Experience

• Thanks to the collaboration between Xiaomi and Google, this phone provides a smooth and fun user experience without lags or slow responses, also in part due to the large capacity of the internal memory and RAM.
• This phone is considered a very suitable choice for users who like to play games, because it doesn’t heat up easily.
• Although the mobile phone comes with one speaker only, its sound is very strong and clear.
• The fingerprint sensor works fast and doesn’t lag but its performance is not ass effective as that of  Samsung and Huawei.

Camera

Pros

• The phone comes with dual back camera with 12-megapixel resolution and it takes videos with 4k resolution.

Cons

• The front camera is only 5-megapixels with no flash.

User Experience

• The camera is very good and portrait mode is great.
• The pictures are not very accurate and might not look real.
• Video images are clear but the microphone is very sensitive to the lowest sound, which is a disadvantage especially if you’re taking a video in an open area like the street or the club. You’ll notice the sound of air is very loud in the video.
• Overall, the back camera performance is satisfactory to many users.
• The front camera provides acceptable pictures considering it’s 5-megapixels without a flash.

Battery

Pros

• Battery capacity: 3080 mAh.

Cons

• Although the phone was said to support fast charging, but you’ll notice that the battery doesn’t support fast charging.
• You can’t change the battery by yourself.

User Experience

• Charging port 0, TYPE-C 1.0 reversible connector, means you can plug in the charger in the port from any direction and you won’t need to worry about plugging it from the ‘wrong’ direction.
• The only downside regarding the charging port is that the charger is not very widespread which could be problematic if you’re not home and you need to charge your phone.
• It takes the battery around 2 hours to fully charge which is an acceptable duration.
• The battery almost lasts a whole day with heavy use.
