Samsung S7 Edge Review

Description:

The power button is on the right side of the device, while the two volume-control buttons are on its left side. On the top side, you will find the headphone port, an additional noise-cancellation microphone, the SIM card port, and an external memory card port. As for the bottom of the device, you will find the main microphone, external speakers, and the charger port.

In the middle of the screen, there is the front camera, while on the rear of the device, you will find the main camera in the middle with a dual flash and a heart rate monitor.

Design

Pros:

  • Samsung S7 Edge comes with a fingerprint sensor.
  • The body of the mobile phone is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection layer.
  • The phone is both water- and dust-resistant. It can stay in the water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of up to 1.5 meters.

Cons:

  • None.

User Experience:

  • The glass layer that protects the device is really easy to smudge with fingerprints.
  • The mobile phone can be easily held and used with one hand.
  • Samsung’s fingerprint sensor isn’t that fast and doesn’t work by touch; you have to click on it.
  • You can hear the phone ringing if it’s placed on a desk or on a chair, as the speakers are placed under the screen, but they’re not very loud because of the phone’s water-resistant design.
  • You can’t charge the phone if the charging port is a bit damp or wet. You will have to wait until it dries up completely.
  • Although the device weighs 175 grams, it’s still heavier than the previous model, Samsung S6. However, there haven’t been any complaints regarding its weight.

Screen

Pros:

  • A 5.5-inch screen, Super AMOLED and FHD (1440 x 2560) screen of 2K resolution.
  • The screen is fitted with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protective layer.
  • The curve at the edges of the Samsung S7 Edge gives the display a unique depth.

Cons:

  • None.

User Experience:

  • The curves in the Samsung S7 Edge and on the sides of the screen go green when someone calls so you would be able to tell that it’s ringing if it’s put into the silent mode.
  • You can get to the commonly-used applications easily, like the compass, calculator, and many more, via the Edge on the mobile screen (S7 Edge).
  • The phone always shows the time and date on the screen even when the phone is locked. However, this feature can’t show notifications for neither Facebook nor the e-mail.
  • You can see the screen clearly from different angles.

Performance

Pros:

  • Samsung Exynos 8890 octa-core processor with 4 GB RAM and a T880 Mali graphic processor.
  • The device’s internal memory is 32 or 64 GB, and an external memory card can be added (up to 256 GB).
  • The phone supports OTG technology, Gyroscope, and NFC.

Cons:

  • The mobile does not support FM radio.

User Experience:

  • The performance of the device is great and works really well when multitasking .
  • If you are a fan of games with really sophisticated graphics, you would notice that the phone might be a bit slow.
  • The mobile heats up when you are watching a movie on it using virtual reality.

Camera

Pros:

  • 12-megapixel rear camera with a 1.4-micron pixel-sized lens and a rear LED flash.
  • The main camera captures videos with 4k precision.
  • A 5-megapixel front camera.

Cons:

  • The front camera isn’t equipped with flash.

User Experience:

  • The camera works efficiently in low light.
  • The camera has a select focus mode that gives the person taking the picture the ability to focus on a certain object end and isolate the background. If you like taking pictures at night, its night vision mode works pretty well.
  • The camera application takes less than a single second to open, and you can open it while you are using a different application.
  • The front camera is only 5 megapixels, but it takes good pictures even in low lighting

Battery

Pros:

  • The battery is 3600 mAh.
  • The battery supports fast-charging and wireless-charging technologies.

Cons:

  • The battery is non-removable; you won’t be able to change it yourself.

User Experience:

  • Battery capacity is considered large and supports fast-charging technology. In only an hour and a half, you can get a full charge.
  • The battery is enough for full-day use with medium to long-term use.
  • The battery can be set on many modes to save up power that change the screen colors to black and white and limit the usage of the device, such as calling and sending text messages.
