7 New Smartphone Trends Launching in 2017

By: Mohamed Adel & Mona Awad

Can you believe that 17 years had passed on launching the Nokia 3310  mobile phone?

The dramatic technological development that has taken place since then is as vast as it could get! Ideas that were once a fantasy are now easily achievable. The simplest example is the mobile phone itself. We now immensely rely on its existence in our life, and it has received the better part of technological development over the years.

Since Yaoota knows how much you care about finding out all that’s new in the world of  technology , we have made you a list of seven smart trends that are expected to be launched throughout this year. This article will help you become fully prepared for the products the moment they are launched! Of course, you will find all the information you need on the product you want in Yaoota.

Let’s get started!

1- 3D Selfie Camera

Last year, the technology fashion was the dual-rear-camera mobile phones, but the United States’ giant Apple will have a different opinion when it unveils the most anticipated masterpiece, iPhone 8, specifically in the second half of 2017. The new iPhone 8 will have a ‘3D selfie’ camera that uses infrared tech to sense the 360-degree angle of the picture. An iris scanner will also become an additional way to unlock  your iPhone.

Sony intends to design the primary front camera sensor.

2- Foldable Phones

Major smartphone companies have begun to move towards a totally new market, which is represented in the foldable phones. The point is that you be able to put it around your wrist or in your pocket without fearing screen damage when sitting or accidentally hitting something.

Samsung is among the major companies that plan to launch about 100,000 devices during the third quarter of 2017. These devices will be characterized by a unique and very distinctive ‘dual-screen’ technology, which will be most illustrious when the phone is folded or locked.

3-  Wireless Headphones

Experts confirmed that Bluetooth headset sales and its production process have increased significantly after the abolition of the traditional headphones slot from iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, and it’s expected to soar through this year!

Samsung is one of the companies that plan to launch these headphones. It has supplied its headphones with noise reduction technology, in addition to its ideal weight and a unique technology known as Talk-In Mode that helps the user hear sounds around him clearly.

Furthermore, B&O Play Company is one of the companies that strongly intend to develop this technology. B&O Play imitated Samsung, as it supplied its headphones with noise reduction technology and improved the headphones shape to contain the entire ear in a beautiful and smooth way.

4-  Bluetooth 5

One of the most common technologies in mobile phones is Bluetooth technology. It has been developed over the past few years to reach its peak in the new update — Bluetooth 5 — that includes mobile phones, tablet computers, and laptops. This technology can operate the same devices that were operated by Bluetooth 4, such as mouses, keyboards, and headphones.

High speed in information exchange stands out as the most prominent features of this technology, as the speed here is estimated to be twice that of the old technology. For example, if the speed of information exchange in the old technology was estimated at 1 MB, the new speed will be 2 MB. Moreover, this technology coverage is four times the old technology.

More impressive still, the significant development in the Bluetooth 5 connection does not increase its energy consumption. It is less, in fact — surprisingly to some.

According to a statement released by Bluetooth SIG, this technology is being deployed on many devices to reach more than 13 billion technologies and devices by the end of 2020. This technology is expected to be released by June 2017.

5- 10 Core Processor

Although we used to have an octa-core processor in our mobile phones as a maximum, MediaTek Company intends to provide us with a new technology in 2017. This technology is represented in the new Helio X23 and Helio X27 chips, which are characterized by their own processor power, estimated at 2.6 GHz instead of 2.5 GHz in the previous versions. The new processors will also help save up to 25% of power more than the previous versions. Though this technology is expected to be released this year, a specific launch date has not yet been confirmed.

6- Li-Fi Technology

Although Wi-Fi is widely deployed for its high speed in transferring and loading data, the great technological development process has given a verdict that this technology has become questionable regarding meeting the user’s requirements; thus, scientists at the French company Oledcomm have developed a new technology called Li-Fi. Li-Fi technology is characterized by its ability to load and transfer data 100 times faster than Wi-Fi, enabling you to load data with speed that could go up to 200 MB/s.

Li-Fi depends on the existence of a lamp in the room. By connecting it to the mobile phone, you will be able to use the Internet connection.

It is worth mentioning that this technology has been put into effect in 2015 in a set of French and Indian museums, but no specific date has been set for its issuance — although it is sure to be issued in 2017.

7- AR and VR Technologies

Before talking about the latest AR and VR technology, let’s quickly know more information about Virtual Reality (VR) technology, which allows the user to live unreal experiences, such as underwater diving, fighting, or walking around a garden while they are still in the house. Such a step can be done via this technology while wearing its special glasses. They are usually manufactured by the same company of your mobile phone. Samsung Gear VR is an outstanding example of this technology.

The feature is limited to the content whose program is compatible with the glasses and the mobile phone manufacturer. The user won’t be able to get out of the movie or the content displayed in front of them on the mobile unless they take off the glasses or end the content display.

As for Augmented Reality (AR) technology, it offers a two- or three-dimensional experience based on the surrounding reality. You can feel the experience that is presented to you without being affected by the surrounding reality, such as the house or the garden. Whichever the place, it will enhance your feelings towards the experience. This experience differs from that of VR, which is somewhat limited to the in-flight movie.

The innovation of this technology includes 4K screen resolution as a minimum. Excellent processing of videos and pictures is guaranteed. That will, in turn, require developing processor chips. The technology will be also able to process and rationalize the smartphone battery’s consumption, as well as develop camera phones to capture high resolution pictures that could be processed to add visual effects in the Augmented Reality.
