Pros of Huawei Mate S

Cons of Huawei Mate S

  1. Average battery.
  2. It doesn’t support wireless charging.
  3. The user interface is somehow hard.
  4. It doesn’t support Infrared technology.
  5. The rear camera is of average performance.
  6. The force Touch technology is not available in all versions of the mobile.
  7. You’ll have to choose between either adding an external storage or using a secondary SIM as they both share the same slot.

Huawei Mate S Review

Design and general features

  • Huawei Mate S is Dual SIM and supports 4G connection.
  • Water-resistant but not water-proof.
  • The phone is made of metal and of elegant design, the back side is curved a little which makes it easier for the user to hold and also gives it a nice shape.
  • The front sides got curved edges that give a more elegant touch.
  • It weights 156 grams.
  • It supports NFC technology that helps you transfer your data quickly in addition to Bluetooth 4.0.
  • The fingerprint sensor is located below the rear camera and is perfectly responsive. It enables you to accept calls, use the camera, capture pictures and move between pictures. It also offers you a high level of security and privacy through locking and unlocking your phone with the fingerprints you choose.
  • Since it is equipped with Knuckle sense 2.0, it will enable you to use your fingers in other tasks like cropping pictures. And if you press a certain letter it will open apps (that start with this letter) immediately even if the phone was locked. For example, if you press the letter C, the camera app will open.
  • The speakers are at the bottom of the phone and you may think they are two but actually it’s only one speaker the other’s got microphones inside for phone calls and it was designed that way to keep the design symmetric.

Screen

  • FHD, super AMOLED, 5.5 inches screen of quality 1080 × 1920 pixel with pixel density 401 ppi.
  • The screen of Huawei Mate S is protected with a 5D glass coat, the edges are protected and the protective coat is Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Also the edges are polished and reflective which gives the screen a catchy look.
  • The screen supports the Force Touch technology, which allows the user to perform many tasks with prolonged touch on the screen, which is a similar technology to the 3D Touch technology that is available in the iPhone devices. You can also put a picture of a fruit and you’ll have its weight calculated on the screen (the 128 GB version is the only one that supports this feature).
  • The screen gives a very good and clear display under sunlight, very high brightness, vivid and saturated colors with very good viewing angle that will allow the user to watch videos with someone beside them.

Performance

  • Octa-core processor (quad-core processor 2.2 GHz and another quad-core processor 1.5 GHz) and 3 GB RAM.
  • It runs the operating system Android Lollipop 5.1.1.
  • Good graphics processor and can run games like Asphalt 8 and Mortal Kombat X. Huawei Mate S performs tasks smoothly because of the 3 GB RAM.
  • The performance is good but not as good as its competitors.
  • Its available with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB of internal storage and you’ll have to choose between either adding an external storage or using a secondary SIM as they both share the same slot.

Rear camera

  • The rear camera is of quality 13 MP with OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer), LED flash and dual-tone flash.
  • The rear camera of Huawei Mate S comes with RGBW sensor that works on improving the camera performance, especially in low-light conditions because of its ability to recognize the four main colors (Red, Green, Blue and White).
  • It can record videos of quality 1080p @30fps.
  • The camera doesn’t support slow motion shooting and it also doesn’t support 4k shooting.
  • There are several modes for capturing; HDR, black and white filter and it can balance white color and light sensitivity through Pro camera mode for professionals.
  • The auto-focus works perfectly in good light conditions and the rear camera captures good pictures and true colors but not saturated.
  • While in low light, the quality of the pictures decreases.
  • The rear camera is of average performance and is less than that of the LG G4 and the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Front-facing camera

  • The front-facing camera is of quality 8 MP with dim flash that is very sufficient for selfies.
  • It can record videos of quality 1080p.
  • There are modes like: beautification mode that refines the skin and does some improvements for the eyes and face.
  • It can capture selfies with the fingerprint sensor.
  • It can capture a Panorama Selfie.
  • The selfies are very good and Selfie lovers will definitely love the front-facing camera of the Huawei Mate S.

Battery
