Mechanism Of Action Of Eprosartan

• Eprosartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict.
• As a result, Eprosartan relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.

Therapeutic Indications Of Teveten 600 Mg Tablets

• Treating high blood pressure (hypertension) in adult patients. High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.
• Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.

Method Of Administration Of Teveten 600 Mg Tablets

• Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
• You should try to take your daily dose at about the same time each day.
• You must continue to take the drug until your doctor tells you otherwise.
• Do not break the tablet in half
• You can take the tablet with or without food.
• The recommended dose is 600 mg of eprosartan once a day.
• Eprosartan may be used alone or along with other medicine e.g. a diuretic, to help lower your blood pressure.
• Children and adolescents under 18 years should not take eprosartan.
• Do not take eprosartan if you have severe liver problems
• If you have kidney problems, your doctor may give you a lower dose.

• To measure blood pressure correctly:

4. Put both feet flat on the ground and keep your legs uncrossed.
5. Rest your arm with the cuff on a table at chest height.
6. Make sure the blood pressure cuff is snug but not too tight. The cuff should be against your bare skin, not over clothing.
7. Do not talk while your blood pressure is being measured.

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Teveten 600 Mg Tablets

• Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you developed: Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat which may cause difficulty in breathing or swallowing
• You should let your doctor know:

1. if you think that you are (or might become) pregnant. Eprosartan is not recommended in early pregnancy and must not be taken if you are more than 3 months pregnant, as it may cause serious harm to your baby if used at that stage
2. if you are dehydrated or have low salt levels (because you are on a low salt diet, are taking water tablets or have diarrhea or vomiting). These conditions should be corrected before you start taking eprosartan
3. if you know you have raised potassium levels in your blood
4. if you suffer from heart disease e.g. heart valve disease, an enlarged heart, or weakness of the heart muscle (heart failure)
5. if you have severe kidney problems, have had a kidney transplant, or need dialysis
6. if you have a narrowing or a blockage of the blood vessels leading to your kidney(s)
7. if you have any other liver problems
8. if you have a condition affecting your adrenal gland (hyperaldosteronism)
9. if you are of Afro-Caribbean origin, as eprosartan may be less effective in lowering blood pressure
10. if you are taking any of the following medicines used to treat high blood pressure: an ACE-inhibitor (for example enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril), in particular, if you have diabetes-related kidney problems or aliskiren.

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines. This includes medicines obtained without a prescription, or the following:

1. other blood pressure-lowering medicines
2. potassium supplements, potassium-sparing agents, or potassium-containing salt substitutes
3. diuretic (‘water tablet’)
4. medicines that can increase blood potassium levels, such as heparin, used to treat blood clots
5. lithium used to treat certain mental disorders
6. medicines for pain and inflammation such as aspirin (more than 3 g per day), ibuprofen, diclofenac, celecoxib, etoricoxib, or lumiracoxib (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines) used for pain, fever

Storage Conditions Of Teveten 600 Mg Tablets

• Store below 25°c
• Don’t refrigerate
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

Normal Ranges

• Normal: Blood pressure numbers of less than 120/80 mm Hg
• Elevated: is when readings consistently range from 120-129 systolic and less than 80 mm Hg diastolic.
• Hypertension Stage 1: is when blood pressure consistently ranges from 130-139 systolic or 80-89 mm Hg diastolic.
• Hypertension Stage 2: is when blood pressure consistently ranges at 140/90 mm Hg or higher.
• Hypertensive crisis: This stage of high blood pressure requires medical attention. If your blood pressure readings suddenly exceed 180/120 mm Hg, wait five minutes and then test your blood pressure again. If your readings are still unusually high, contact your doctor immediately. You could be experiencing a hypertensive crisis.
