Mechanism Of Action Of Sodium Cromoglicate-Tetrahydrozoline Eye Drops

  • Cromoglicate inhibits degranulation of mast cells, subsequently preventing the release of histamine and slow-reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A), mediators of type I allergic reactions. Cromoglicate also may reduce the release of inflammatory leukotrienes. Cromoglicate may act by inhibiting calcium influx.
  • Tetrahydrozoline is a sympathomimetic amine and an alpha-adrenergic agonist with vasoconstricting and decongestant properties. It works by constricting the smaller arterioles of the nasal passages and conjunctival blood vessels to ameliorate allergic rhinitis, nasal congestion, and ocular irritation

  • It is used to prevent itching, inflammation, and watering eyes.

Method Of Administration Of Croma Ophthalmic Solution

  • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
  • Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • The recommended dose is:
  • 1 or 2 drops in your eye 3 - 4 times daily
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Croma Ophthalmic Solution

  • Most eye drops can cause a short-term blurring of vision when first used so you should wait until your eyes are clear before driving or using machines.
  • If you wear soft contact lenses. Do not use the drops while your contact lenses are in your eyes.
  • Wait 10 -15 minutes after using the eye drops before putting your lenses back into your eyes.
  • Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing.
  • Stop using the product if you develop itching of the face or body.

Storage Conditions Of Croma Ophthalmic Solution

  • Store below 25°c
  • Don’t refrigerate
  • After opening the drops are safe for the eye for a period of 28 days. After this, using the drops can cause serious damage to the eye as bacteria may have been introduced.
  • Keep this product out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
  • Do not use this product after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label.
  • The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
