HTC 10 evo

This is the review of HTC’s HTC 10 evo, a flagship of HTC. It is an improvement of the older HTC 10 since it comes later than it and has more/ better features than the HTC 10. This phone’s main selling point(s) are its improvement over the HTC 10 like sound quality, camera, better battery etc which will all be mentioned below.

Design and build

The HTC 10 evo comes with the same design as the HTC, all metal build, same everything, except for this time there is water proofing. Yes it is IP57 certified – dust and water resistant water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes. It has 153.6 x 77.3 x 8.1 mm dimensions and weighs just 174 grams. It has a compact build, camera and flash with HTC’s branding on its back, front side is the selfie camera and a front facing speaker, a 5.5 inch display and a home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner. Its bottom has a usb port and another bottom firing speaker. Sides are made of metal too and house the power button and volume rockers. The phone feels great in hand.

Display

It comes with a 5.5 inch display of 70.2% screen-to-body ratio and has a 1440 x 2560 pixels (~534 ppi pixel density) resolution. I love how bright the screen is, or can get and how viewing angles are also decent on the HTC10 evo. Colors are well represented as always with HTC and this display will be easily visible in whatever lighting conditions. Expect a descent display. There is also the bonus of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and support for multi touch.

Camera

This is one of the specs I always have to consider before buying a phone. Here, with the HTC 10 evo we have a 16 MP primary shooter with f/2.0 aperture, OIS, phase detection autofocus and comes with a dual-LED flash. This camera takes great pictures in low light especially and has a good image quality overall.

An 8 MP secondary, or selfie camera if you like is what we get here. It has f/2.4 aperture and also does a good job at its. It records up to 1080p and comes with an auto-HDR addition, which is nice.

Video recording stands at 2160p@, 720p@120fps with the HTC 10 evo. I love the sound quality you get on the videos you get with this camera. at 30fps (24-bit/192kHz audio) the audio output is audible with minimum and almost close to no unnecessary noise recorded. What you wanted is what you get. Good job HTC.

Performance and Memory

So the HTC 10 evo runs on this platform. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset which although isn’t the latest version of Snapdragon (which you will never notice) works just fine here given HTC’s own software customization. Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 CPU and Adreno430 GPU. It run on the latest version of Android, Nougat with HTC’s skin called Sense which if you ask me does look great, I am a fan of this simple to use skin.

Internal memory is 32GB and can be expanded up to 256 GB using an SD card. The HTC 10 evo runs on 3GB of RAM. Expect a smooth experience here.

Battery

Its non-removable 3,200Ah battery is a power efficient addition. This phone will last you a whole day with ease and should you run out of charge, be sure to get juiced with quick charging 2.0 which the HTC 10 evo does support. I was glad to see a type C sub port on board.

The battery’s endurance rating is 58 hours, but his is just on paper this phone, just like any other smartphone out there will last you a full day with a little charge left at the end of it.

Sound

Here is another area HTC paid attention to. Now to start with, there is no 3.5mm jack on the HTC 10 evo. Sad you might think right? But what you get instead on the type c port is an amazing output on headphone, be they HTC provided or just any other. The sound is great really.

Secondly, the speakers on the HTC 10 evo are also amazing. Two of the, one front facing and the other a bottom firing speaker. How they both combine to give boom sound is just great and due to how they have been placed, you will always heat the output regardless of the position your phone lays.

Connectivity and Network

Supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and comes with a type C 1.0 connector.

Networks supported are GSM, HSPA and LTE. It is Nano sim.

It is a solid phone from HTC the HTC 10 evo. Great camera great sound great build. I do recommend this phone.

Comes in two colors black and silver.
