Mechanism Of Action Of Telmisartan

  • Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict.
  • As a result, telmisartan relaxes the blood vessels. This lowers blood pressure and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.

  • Treatment of hypertension, high blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.

Method Of Administration Of Micardis 40 Mg Tablets

  • May be administered with or without food
  • When used for cardiovascular risk reduction, monitoring of blood pressure is recommended, and if appropriate, adjustment of medications that lower blood pressure may be necessary
  • Hypertension:
  1. Starting Dose: 40 mg once daily, your doctor may increase the dose to reach the targeted blood pressure

  • Avoid concomitant use of an ACE inhibitor and angiotensin receptor blocker
  • NSAIDs: Increase the risk of renal impairment and loss of antihypertensive effect

Normal Range

  • Normal: Blood pressure numbers of less than 120/80 mm Hg
