Product Name

  • Lorvast 10 Mg, Reduce Blood Cholesterol Level & Prevent Hyperlipidemia Complications - 30 Tablets

Scientific Name

  • Atorvastatin 10 Mg Tablets

Category Of Lorvast 10 Mg Tablets

  • Anti-Hypercholesterolemia Drugs

Mechanism Of Action Of Atorvastatin

  • Atorvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering medication that belongs to the statin class of drugs. Statins lower cholesterol levels in the blood by blocking 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A(HMG-CoA) reductase, an enzyme that's needed for the liver to produce cholesterol.
  • Decreased hepatic cholesterol concentrations stimulate the upregulation of hepatic low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptors, which increases hepatic uptake of LDL & decreases LDL level in the blood.

Therapeutic Indications Of Lorvast 10 Mg Tablets

  • It is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when a low-fat diet and lifestyle changes on their own have failed.
  • Cholesterol is a naturally occurring substance in the body necessary for normal growth. However, if there is too much cholesterol in your blood, it can build up on blood vessel walls, increasing the risk of blood clots and cardiovascular events. This is one of the most common causes of heart disease.
  • If you are at an increased risk of heart disease, it can also be used to reduce such risk even if your cholesterol levels are normal.
  • You should maintain a standard cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment.

Method Of Administration Of Lorvast 10 Mg Tablets

  • The usual starting dose of Atorvastatin is 10 mg once a day in adults and children aged 10 years or older.
  • This may be increased if necessary by your doctor until you are taking the amount you need
  • Atorvastatin tablets should be swallowed whole with a drink of water, with or without food.
  • Atorvastatin tablets can be taken at any time of day, but the most common instruction is to take your statin at night. This is because cholesterol production is thought to be highest at night
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Cholesterol Level In The Blood

  • Reduce saturated fats. Saturated fats, found primarily in red meat and full-fat dairy products, raise your total cholesterol.
  • Eliminate trans fats. Trans fats, sometimes listed on food labels as "partially hydrogenated vegetable oil," are often used in margarine and store-bought cookies, crackers, and cakes. Trans fats raise overall cholesterol levels.
  • Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids or use an omega-3 supplement like Omegat Omega 3 Capsules or Paradox Omega 3 Capsules
  • Increase soluble fiber. Soluble fiber can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Soluble fiber is found in such foods as oatmeal, kidney beans, Brussels sprouts, apples, and pears.
  • Exercise on most days of the week and increase your physical activity, work up to at least 30 minutes of exercise five times a week
  • Quitting smoking improves your HDL cholesterol level.
  • Losing weight will help you to reduce your triglyceride levels. A 5–10 percent weight loss can decrease triglyceride levels by 20 percent. Rondiet Capsules & Ronfit Capsules will help you to decrease your body weight
  • Sometimes healthy lifestyle changes aren't enough to lower cholesterol levels. If your doctor recommends medication to help lower your cholesterol, take it as prescribed while continuing your lifestyle changes. Lifestyle changes can help you keep your medication dose low.
