About this product

Felodipine is a type of medicine called a calcium channel blocker. This type of medicine acts on the blood vessels by inhibiting the entry of calcium ions through their channels into the muscle cells that are located in the walls of the blood vessels. Calcium is needed by the muscle cells for contraction. When calcium is prevented from entering and not present in these cells, felodipine helps to relax these cells. Felodipine specifically acts on the muscle cells in the walls of the arteries, causing them to relax. This allows the arteries of the body to widen. This reduces the pressure within the blood vessels. Therefore, felodipine can be used to lower high blood pressure. It increases oxygen delivery in patients with vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal).

    Dosage and method of use:

    • 2.5-10 mg per day or as directed by the physician.

    Indications:

    • Hypertension.
    • The medicine can be used to prevent angina pectoris.
