D – Panthenol :
It is the stable alcoholic analog of pantothenic acid, where Pantothenic acid is essential to normal epithelial function.
It is a component of coenzyme A. Topical dexpanthenol acts like a moisturizer, improving stratum corneum hydration, reducing transepidermal
water loss and maintaining skin softness and elasticity. It helps in activation of fibroblast proliferation, which is of relevance in wound healing.
Accelerated re-epithelization in wound healing, monitored by means of the transepidermal water loss as an indicator of the intact epidermal
barrier function, has also been seen. Dexpanthenol has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect on experimental ultraviolet-induced
erythema and used in therapy for burn injuries and others.
Manilkara Multinervis extract :
It is enhances Elastin, Collagen, and GAGs production.
Manilkara Multinervis extract increases, the expression of ELN gene coding for tropoelastin, the synthesis of FIBULIN-5, the synthesis of EMILIN-1 from
cultured human dermal fibroblasts.
It is significantly preserved the elastic fibers at both the papillary and reticular dermis levels through anti – elastase activity.
The anti – elastase efficacy of Manilkara Multinervis extract is similar to α 1-AT, a potent inhibitor of serine proteases.
Therefore, Manilkara Multinervis extract reduces the roughness of stretch marks and Improves firmness and elasticity of the skin.
Honey :
Preparations containing honey are used in the management of skin ulcers, wounds, and burns.
Its antibacterial properties are attributed both to high osmolality and the liberation of hydrogen peroxide.
This chemicals in honey may kill certain bacteria and fungus. When applied to the skin, honey may serve as a barrier to moisture and
keep skin from sticking to dressings.
Honey may also provide nutrients and other chemicals that speed wound healing.
Dimethicon :
It is hydrophobic and is also widely used in topical barrier preparations. In body care regimen, it works as a barrier ingredient, lubricant,
emollient, and carrier, which permit to regenerate new skin cells, and for protecting the skin against water-soluble irritants and to reduce scar
elevation and pigmentation.
It is used as an emollient (skin softeners) that allows its application to feel smooth.
In addition, this ingredient quickly evaporates, without leaving any greasy residue.
Allantoin :
It has a moisturizing and keratolytic effect, increasing the water content of the extracellular matrix and enhancing the desquamation of
upper layers of dead skin cells, increasing the smoothness of the skin; promoting cell proliferation and wound healing; and a soothing, anti-irritant,
and skin protectant effect by forming complexes with irritant and sensitizing agents.
Green tea extra :
It has flavonoid compounds with phenolic structures have significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and studies suggest that
these compounds help mediate ultraviolet radiation damage.
These phytochemicals are highly reactive with other compounds, such as reactive oxygen species and biologic macromolecules,
to neutralize free radicals.
The major and most chemopreventive constituent in green tea responsible for these biochemical or pharmacological effects is
(-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).
Olive oil :
Externally, It is emollient and soothing to inflamed surface.
Castor oil
It is used as a moisturizer to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations.
Jojoba oil :
It is a natural liquid wax. It contains no triglycerides and is therefore not very greasy and non-occlusive.
It is an emollient that penetrates skin, offering moisturizing properties, and protection from external aggressions.
The review of literatures suggest that jojoba has anti-inflammatory effect and it can be used on a variety of skin conditions including skin infections,
skin aging, as well as wound healing
Vitamin E acetate :
Tocopheryl acetate is a form of vitamin E, a natural skin-conditioning agent and antioxidant.
Its substantiated benefits include enhancing the efficacy of active sunscreen ingredients, reducing the formation of free radicals from
exposure to UV rays, promoting the healing process, strengthening the skin's barrier function, protecting the skin barrier's lipid balance,
and reducing trans-epidermal water loss.
