1. Huawei P10 Lite

Pros

  • 5.2-inch screen, 1080 x 1280 resolution (~424 ppi pixel density).‎
  • The screen is multi-touch (up to 10 fingers).
  • Has a HiSilicon Kirin 658 quad-core processor.
  • Graphics Processing Unit: Mali-T830MP2.
  • 4 GB RAM.
  • Internal Memory: 32 GB.
  • Supports external microSD card up to 256 GB.
  • Supports two SIM cards and 4G communication.
  • FM Radio.
  • Supports Gyroscope and OTG.
  • Has a fingerprint sensor.
  • Rear Camera: 12 MP, with built-in dual‎-LED flash.
  • Front Camera: 8 MP.
  • Battery Capacity: 3000 mAh, equipped with fast-charging technology.

Cons

  • Doesn’t have Gorilla Glass protection, and the protection layer available isn’t that strong.
  • Users can’t operate both SIM cards and the external SD card at the same time; you have to forgo one.
  • The charging and USB slot isn’t USB Type-C, which exists in other competitive phones.
  • Doesn’t support UR or IR.
  • The front camera doesn’t have a built-in flash.
  • The rear camera’s resolution is considered the lowest among the 5 phones selected here.
  • Users can’t replace the phone’s battery themselves.

User Experience

  • The screen’s visibility is decent to users in normal lighting, but in direct sunlight, the colors on the screen appear faded. In order to see clearly, the brightness needs to be set to highest. The screen comes with an extra protection layer to protect it from damage.
  • The size of the screen makes it easy for users to use the phone with only one hand. Also, Huawei added the option of reducing the screen’s display size in order to make everything on the screen accessible for users to touch if they are using the phone with one hand.
  • The phone’s performance is really good when carrying out daily tasks, from surfing the internet to checking email. If users decide to download many apps, they will notice that the phone’s performance has slowed down. This phone is a suitable choice for gamers who prefer light or medium-quality games. However, if users play high-quality games, the color display won’t be the best. Still, the phone won’t overheat while operating high-quality games for long hours.
  • The phone allows users to operate two Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp accounts at the same time.
  • The fingerprint sensitivity is high, and through the fingerprint sensor you can secure your private information and photos.
  • Huawei allows users to operate the camera just by drawing the letter ‘C’ on the screen. By tapping twice on the screen, the camera turns on and off.
  • The rear camera takes good-quality pictures in average or high lighting. However, in dim or poor lighting, the photos aren’t as sharp, even with the flash on. That’s due to the lens aperture (only f/2.2), and users will notice an obvious ‘noise’ in photos.
  • The camera allows users to use the ‘All Focus’ feature, so when users snap a picture, they are able to set the focus on the part they want to appear in focus and the rest will blur. This feature allows users to take selectively-focused pictures, which is a feature used by many professional photographers.
  • The front camera allows users to take good-quality photos in high and average lighting. Also, users can take selfies with a big group thanks to the large lens size.
  • Although the battery supports fast-charging technology, for the battery to be fully charged, it takes two and a half hours, which is considered a long time for a battery capacity that’s less than 3000 mAh.

  • Battery Capacity: 3000 mAh.

Cons

  • The camera isn’t equipped with OIS and doesn’t shoot 4k videos.
  • The operation of the processor uses a great deal of the battery, as for every task it uses al eight cores at once.
  • Users can’t replace the battery themselves.
  • Users can’t use the two SIM cards and the external memory card at the same time.
  • The phone doesn’t have LED notification light.

User Experience

  • The phone’s design is unique. It’s made of metal and has curved edges, which gives it a sleek appearance. The phone’s design makes it easy for users to hold the phone in their hand without slipping.
  • Although the phone doesn’t have a LED notification light, it has an ‘Always on Display’ feature that shows the time and date and other notifications without having to turn on the screen.
  • The ‘Always on Display’ feature allows users to check the notifications of the programs and apps they select.
  • The resolution and vividness of the screen are very good in different lighting; users won’t face any trouble with the screen using the phone in direct sunlight.
  • The fingerprint sensor is located in the front. Through it, users can protect their data and information. The sensor works by pressing it and it’s highly sensitive and won’t even freeze once.
  • The phone’s performance is efficient and fast in regards to turning on and off multiple apps, and when switching between more than one app, users won’t find any problem.
  • The phone is a good choice for users who enjoy different kinds of games, and the phone won’t heat up while operating them.
  • The phone’s sound is sharp and clear, but it isn’t the loudest in comparison to its competitors due to its water-resistance.
  • The camera is the most special among the cameras of all 5 phones reviewed, and users can take good-quality photos. Although the phone isn’t equipped with OIS, the photos come out sharp and users won’t even notice the absence of this feature.
  • The front camera takes high-quality selfies with sharp details.
  • The camera’s operating system is the usual, offered by Samsung.
  • The phone comes with Android Marshmallow software, but it’s updatedable to Nougat.

  • 13 MP rear camera, with lens aperture of f/2.2.
  • The camera has the autofocus feature and a built-in LED flash.
  • Strong battery capacity (3075 mAh).

Cons

  • The camera isn’t equipped with OIS or NFC.
  • The Android software is considered outdated among other competitors (Android Lollipop).
  • The battery doesn’t support fast-charging.

User Experience

  • The phone’s design is similar to the iPhone. It’s lightweight, as it’s made of metal. Users won’t face any problems using the phone with one hand for a long time.
  • The screen’s colors and vividness are clear. Also, the visibility in direct sunlight is very good. The control buttons of the phone are illuminated and located outside the screen, which gives it more space. Unfortunately, there’s no LED notification light, so users won’t be able to get message notifications.
  • Although the screen has a good size to make users comfortable using the phone with only one hand, OPPO added the feature of minimizing the screen display to make it even easier for users to reach all the apps and programs on the screen with one hand.

  • Users can draw  the letter ‘V’ on the screen to turn on the flash and the letter ‘O’ to turn on the camera.
  • This phone is a good choice for users who enjoy light or medium-quality games. High-quality games will work on the phone, but the phone’s performance during their operation won’t be as efficient.
  • The rear camera takes good-quality photos indoors and outdoors. In dim or poor lighting, the photos show some ‘noise’. Users will enjoy the different settings for photo capturing, such as the Ultra HD, which is an option that makes pictures appear very sharp and high in resolution, especially if users decided to print out these pictures.
  • The selfie camera of the phone is great, which is typical for OPPO phones that are known for being the best in the field of selfies. Although the front camera doesn’t have a built-in flash, it highly lights up in dim or poor lighting, so the pictures appear bright.
  • The phone’s battery is strong and efficient. It lasts up to a whole day of frequent usage. Unfortunately, it takes three hours to charge, which is a long period considering the battery’s capacity.
