Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus Detailed Description:

Design.

In terms of design, the camera housing has been modified to look more like the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The S22’s camera housing, which melted into the phone’s frame, is no longer there, as each lens is now separated from the shiny aluminum frame by a color-matched metal ring. The body is built of a glass front (Gorilla Glass Victus 2), glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus 2), and an aluminum frame. It weighs 196 grams and measures 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm (6.21 x 3.00 x 0.30 in).

Display

The 6.6-inch 1080x2340px Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz display is also straight out of last year’s Galaxy S22+. It still has a huge display with flat borders, an FHD+ resolution, and an adjustable refresh rate that can range between 48Hz and 120Hz to balance smooth and efficient screen performance, but it’s not quite on the level of the Galaxy S23 Ultra (1-120Hz). The maximum display brightness remains at 1,750 nits, the same as the peak brightness promised for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Brighter screens make it easier to read your phone even in strong sunlight, so let’s hope that the max brightness number maintains.

Camera

One area where Galaxy S23 Plus users may wish they had upgraded to the Galaxy S23 Ultra and its higher-end 200MP camera is the camera. However, the standard S23 Plus’s 50MP primary camera is capable.

The 12MP front-facing camera is a definite upgrade, up from 10MP on the Galaxy S22 Plus. You also get faster auto-focus and Super HDR for better colors and contrast and 60 fps video recording from the front camera (up from 30 fps)

For video, the Galaxy S23 Plus’s frame rate got a bump at its maximum 8K resolution, from 24fps to 30fps. 4K resolution and below keep their existing refresh rates, including slo-mo options for 1080p and 720p. The S23 Plus can compete with the Tecno Phantom X2 5G and Phantom X2 Pro. But it is far much better compared to Nokia X40 5G.

Performance

For the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung is going all-in on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, rather than dividing models between Snapdragon and Exynos chips as it has in recent years. That’s a major gain for foreign consumers considering the Galaxy S23 Plus, which is no longer limited to a subpar processor.

The significant difference is that the processor is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. This long moniker refers to Samsung receiving a customized, higher-performance version of the new processor, which would theoretically outperform other phones utilizing the same silicon. The performance is what you would expect from the pricing.

Battery Life

The Galaxy S23 Plus receives an update on battery. The S23 Plus battery has a capacity of 4,700 mAh, which is more than the S22 Plus’s capacity of 4,500 mAh, but less compared to Galaxy A14’s 5000mAh. Unfortunately, fast charging is reduced to up to 45W cable charging and 10W wireless charging, down from 15W wireless charging on the S22 Plus.

We’re hoping that the Galaxy S23 Plus’s new processor and other improvements will allow it to get a higher battery life score Compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the S21 Plus.
