For a while now I have felt the need to do an article about this phone, and here we are. Quite a number of features here are what we see on the Mate 10. Below is an extensive description of the above listed features:

Design and build

Huawei Mate 10 Pro is an exact copy of the Mate 10 (std version). The two have (except for size and little detail) the same everything i.e design and build. We get a front and back glass build with aluminum frames for the build of the Mate 10 Pro. On the back, a horizontal strip that adds to the look of this phone houses the centrally placed vertically placed cameras with an LED flash beside them and laser autofocus lens to its right. Facing you is its 6.0 inches display panel. I appreciate the reduced bezels on this phone, that’s a step in the right direction. It is what we see Samsung, LG etc do with their smartphones these days. But come on, you know what they say about copying- if you going to copy anything copy the right stuff. Speaking of which, the top bezel has the selfie camera, call speaker and sensor while the bottom one has Huawei branding. The fingerprint scanner has been moved to be back of this phone and it sits right below the primary camera. Need I mention this phone is water and dust resistant? It is IP64 water and dust resistant (up to 1m and for 30 minutes).

Display and camera

Display

It comes with a 6.0 inches AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 16M colors support and multi touch as well. It is a decent display in my opinion. Now, for those who understand best, AMOLED is good (with extra O’s) it has great viewing angles, good color punch, brightness etc etc. Its resolution is 1080 x 2160 pixels (499ppi pixel density) resolution, 81% screen to body ration and a 18:9 that’s a ½ aspect ratio. Although the version is unspecified, Huawei assures us of Corning Gorilla Glass protection on this phone.

Camera

Every detail here is what we see on the standard version if the Mate 10.

The primary camera is a dual 12MP + 20MP. I like the features on board here. We see Huawei throwing in other features like 2x lossless zoom, LEICA optics lenses, phase detection & laser detection and the flash is a dual LED one with dual tone flash. The good old geo tagging, touch focus, face/smile detection, HDR and panorama.

Video recording here kicks in at 2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60fps while the selfie camera records a pixel count of 8MP with f2.0 aperture. My rating for the camera performance on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is 8 out of 10.

It is Android Oreo 8.0 that is installed on this smartphone straight out its package. That’s a good move there.  We also get HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset, and Octa core (4 x 2.4 GHz Cortex A-73 & 4 x 1.8GHz Cortex A53) CPU and a Mali G72 MP12 GPU.
