Clarification

There is a difference between manufacturer and your PC operating system capacity calculations.

Manufacturer consider decimal arithmetic: 1 MB = 1000 KB, 1 GB = 1000 MB. On the other hand, the operating system uses binary arithmetic: 1 MB = 1024 KB, 1 GB = 1024 MB.

This definitely creates some differences between display capacity and nominal capacity of storage devices.

Therefore, your devices or gadgets will approximate the 500 GB capacity as between 228 GB - 238 GB.
