With an SVGA native resolution and a 4:3 native aspect ratio, the S316 SVGA DLP Multimedia Projectorfrom Optoma is perhaps best suited for displaying SD video and PowerPoint style presentations. In addition to its native resolution, it can also support a range of non-native resolutions and aspect ratios up to 1920 x 1200, which is achieved through scaling. The image the S316 delivers is produced by a single-chip, 0.55" DLP device and provides 3200 lumens of brightness when set to full output.

The projector is designed to accommodate a variety of video sources. It features an HDMI port, which supports all HDMI 1.4a mandatory 3D formats for use with Blu-ray Disc players, computers, and other devices that are HDMI 1.4a 3D compatible. Next there are two VGA ports for computers with analog outputs, many AV systems, document cameras, and a number of other devices. For use with analog SD equipment such as VCRs, there is an S-video port and a composite video port. Lastly among the inputs, there are two stereo audio inputs on 3.5mm mini jack connectors. Finally, there is a VGA output for looping through one of the VGA input signals, plus a 3.5mm mini jack audio out for connecting amplified speakers or a sound system. Where external audio is unavailable, there is a built-in two-watt speaker that can be used.

An IR remote is included for operating the projector from within the same room - or you can just use the on-board buttons. For operation from further away, or integration with an automation system such as Crestron, there is an RS-232 interface. A case is included for transporting and storing the projector.

Single Chip DLP Technology

Uses a combination of a 0.55" chip covered in millions of micro-mirrors and a color wheel to produce an image. DLP features less spacing between pixels and better contrast than many comparable LCD-based systems

1.1x Zoom with 1.95 to 2.15:1 Throw Ratio

Throw ratio is one of the most important specifications a projector lens has as it tells you the image size (width) you will get at a give distance from the screen. For example, at the 1.05x zoom setting and a 10' distance, this projector will throw an 59"-wide (73"-diagonal) image

3200 Lumens Lamp

A single lamp provides 3200 lumens of brightness in Normal mode, and is estimated to last 5000 hours - up to 10000 hours in the low-brightness ECO+ Mode. To determine the ideal brightness level for your application, you will need to take into account the screen width, distance from the projector to the screen (throw distance), amount of ambient light near the screen, and the reflectivity (gain) of the screen surface used

4:3 Native Aspect Ratio

This projector features the SVGA (800 x 600) format, which produces a 4:3 aspect ratio picture optimal for PowerPoint presentations and SD video. The wider 16:9 HDTV and 16:10 computer aspect ratios can still be displayed. This is achieved either by cropping the sides of the image, "letterboxing" (filling the remaining space with black bars top and bottom), or applying an anamorphic squeeze which distorts the picture

Supports HDMI 1.4a Mandatory 3D

This projector supports all HDMI 1.4a mandatory 3D formats (frame pack, side-by-side, top-bottom) and up converts frame rate from 60 Hz to 120 Hz or 24 Hz to 144 Hz (i.e 60 or 72 frames per eye). Active 3D glasses are required, and are available separately

USB Port

A mini USB type B port enables connection to a computer to use the Remote Mouse function and firmware updates
