Set in a real but magical world, each story imparts the reader some knowledge about the culture, in which the story is set, as well as introducing popular sayings and/or leaving us with a morality. The characters have Arabic names which reflect their main characteristics, virtues or looks. The characters’ sketched outlines are simple and bold but the characters are alive through the simple little details in their expressions, mannerisms and dress inspired by Pharaonic history and art. We can see scarabs, hieroglyphics, and lotus all of which are adapted from historical and cultural symbols and motifs. The main protagonists are two little mice who scamper from adventure to adventure. They are human in their characteristics, emotions and behavior. They are watched over by a vat who also is their base or comfort zone and our storyteller. They are also followed by a trio of magical and celestial beings who come to their rescue and come up with the morality in the story. The drawings of all the characters have been inspired by Pharaonic, Arab and oriental heritage. The boy mouse RimRam wears a Pharaonic tunic and headband with lotus motifs. As for,the girl mouse ZarBoona she is wearing what resembles an Egyptian peasants’ dress with a headdress that reassembles "tally "motifs . ZEar is a terra cotta vat with old Egyptian motifs. There are also three celestial characters that have magic powers, MoffTah the key who is omnipresent, can see everything and is present everywhere. He has the help of ZoBaba the fly who has magic eyes with which to spy and ASsal the bee who has a special sting with which she gives advice. The names are color coded to match the characters main color and the story writing rhymes which makes it easier for children to retain words and increase their vocabulary.
