Troops of German 6A broke through the Red Army's defense and now are advancing towards crossings on the Oskol river near Volokonovka. Combat mission: Wehrmacht - support attacking troops of 79 Inf, advance eastwards towards Volokonovka. Red Army - delay enemy advance until troops of the 114th tank bde come up, keep bridgeheads on the left bank of the Oskol river against the enemy. Graviteam Tactics: Sokolovo 1943Sokolovo 1943 is an addon for Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star, which adds new winter area of operations near the Sokolovo village and new operation for the Red Army (1st Czechoslovak Battalion) in March 1943, 15 turns. Combat mission: Early spring 1943, the advancing German troops of the 6th PzDiv broke the Russian first defense line and now are 30 km near the southern outskirts of Kharkov. The second defense line is located along the Mzha river and is additionally reinforced with the 1st Czechoslovak battalion. Lieutenant-General Rybalko, commander of the 3rd Tank Army, ordered to prevent enemy from crossing the Mzha river. The 1st reinforced Czechoslovak battalion took up defensive positions on the line Mirgorody (the 3rd coy) - Sokolovo (the 1st coy) - Artyukhovka (the 2nd coy). Battalion of 182 gds. Rifle Division, numbering ~30 soldiers, took up defensive positions on the left flank. Troops of 8 Arty Division, 1245 Anti-tank Arty Regiment and 131 gds. Arty Regiment are providing covering fire. On March 7, reconnaissance revealed concentration of German tanks, artillery and infantry in the vicinity of Borki village and in the forest to the south of Sokolovo... Graviteam Tactics: Shilovo 1942Shilovo 1942 is an addon for Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star, which adds new summer area of operations near the Shilovo village (Voronezh front) and 2 new operations for the Red Army and Wehrmacht in July 1942, 13 turns. Combat mission: Intending to enter Voronezh from the South, on July 4, 1942, attacking German forces partly crossed the river Don at Petino – Malyshevo. Bitter fighting quickly ensued over possession of the Shilovo bridgehead, as neither side wanted to lose this strategically important asset. The bridgehead provided the shortest route across the river Don at Malyshevo, terminating in the Southern outskirts of Voronezh on the right bank of the river. German forces intended to use the right bank in their drive to Stalingrad. Hitler was later to declare delays advancing through this region contributed to the failure at Stalingrad, having given Soviet forces more time to prepare. The Shilovo forest presented ideal opportunities for the concealed deployment of reserve forces. It masked warehouses, logistical assets & accommodations. Shilovo, located on high ground, held a dominant position on the left bank. From the village and especially from the church bell-tower, the disposition of Soviet defensive forces at Maslovka, Tavrovo, and Beryozovka was clearly visible, even without field glasses. In-game engagements are modelled for the period from July 4 to July 6, 1942. The battle (on the map modeled in the game) was fought by: German 24th Pz. Div. (26th Inf. Regt., 24th Inf. Regt.) with reinforcements, and Soviet 232 Rifle Div. (498 Rifle Regt., 425 Art. Regt.), 110 Tank Bde and a battalion of 180 Tank Bde (last is unconfirmed). Elements of the 24th Pz. Div. had begun crossing the Don on the morning of 4th July. Initially only lightly armed units made the crossing, moving towards Voronezh. Heavy equipment and artillery followed only on 5th July. On the morning of 5th July the German forces were unsuccessfully counter-attacked by tanks of 110 and 180 Tank Bde. German forces defeated elements of the 232nd Rifle Div. and took control of Shilovo. Germans noted the strong influence of Soviet air support. Graviteam Tactics: Zhalanashkol 1969Zhalanashkol 1969 is an addon for Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star, which adds new mountain area of operations near the Zhalanashkol lake (now at Kazakhstan/China border) and new operations for the USSR Border Guards and People's Liberation Army (China) in August 1969. Combat mission: In the summer of 1969 the situation worsened significantly in the Kazakhstan sector of the Soviet-Chinese border, defended by the Uch-Aral border guard detachment (near Dzhungar Gates area). On August 12, border guards at observation posts of the "Rodnikovaya" and "Zhalanashkol" outposts (BOPs) spotted movement of individual groups of PLA soldiers on the Chinese side of the border. General-Lieutenant Merkulov, the Chief of the Eastern border guard district, suggested the Chinese side to have a meeting to discuss the situation, but there was no answer. On August 13, using favorable terrain, secretly at night, the Chinese concentrated group of up to 30 soldiers on their territory near the border opposite ht.
