Quadro Nuevo meets Cairo Steps  and musical guests from Egypt  An exotic, inspiring and sweeping experience in sound. Music as a flying carpet, rising far above the boundarie of time, politics and religion. 

Cooperation between 2 famous bands   from Egypt and Germany, mixing Sufi elements with jazz harmonies  

The album includes 13 Tracks composed by Basem Darwisch ,MuloFrancel , Matthais Frey , Evelyn Huber and Andreas Hinterseher . It is perfect cooperation between Arabo Egyptian music and Jazz swing .Musicans from both cultures creating a unique atmosphere and new sounds  fully inspiration and power .

Album has been recorded between Egypt and Germany , mixed in Germany at the famous maarwegstudio2 in cologne and mastered at M2 Sound Studio  in Cairo by the famous Sound Eng. Amir Mahrous.

Quadro Nuevo is Europe’s answer to the Argentine tango.  Arabesques, Balkan swing, ballads, daredevil improvisations, the melodies of old Europe and the lightness of the Mediterranean merge into fabulous songs full of joyous colour.

These melodies tell of the vagabond life, of experiences and encounters on this great journey of life, of small coincidences and grand moments, of tenderness and wild temperament driven between the winds of east and west, caught between consuming yearning and joyful fulfillment – between the bitter and the sweet.

Quadro Nuevo has been touring the globe since 1996 giving over 3000 concerts in places as far flung as Sidney, Montreal, Ottawa, Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, New York, New Orleans, Mexico City, Peking, Seoul, Singapore, Tunis and Tel Aviv. From the tranquility of Upper Bavaria, the road has led them over the Alps to Porto, traversing Europe from Denmark to the Balkans and to the Ukraine.

In the course of their travels, the quartet has established its own form of melodic poetry beyond all genre pigeon holes, unmistakably shaped by the passionate love of their instruments and the joy of making music. The secret is their devotion: it is a rare experience to hear music performed with so much excitement, verve and an empathy with cultures that are foreign.

The Quartet’s venues are as diverse as the roots of their music and are not limited to concert halls and festivals. Quadro Nuevo’s ardent virtuosi are just as much at home busking on the piazzas of southern Europe, enticing audiences to dance to their music as a night-time tango band, as they are in jazz clubs and locations as famous as New York’s Carnegie Hall.

Quadro Nuevo’s CD’s have received the German Jazz Award, climbed into the Top Ten of the Jazz and World Music charts and were awarded the coveted European Phono Award in Paris.

The Echo, the German Phono Academy’s highest distinction, was presented to Quadro Nuevo in the category “Jazz/World Music, Best Live Act” in both 2010 and 2011.

Cairo Steps is an international sufi-jazz-world-music ensemble consisting of German and Egyptian musicians. Founded in 2002 as a collaboration between Egyptian oud player and composer Basem Darwisch and German pianist and composer Matthias Frey, Cairo Steps has become an international ensemble under the musical direction of German jazz pianist and conductor Sebastian Müller-Schrobsdorff.Cairo Steps merges music styles from different parts of the world and combines traditional Egyptian and oriental grooves with modern jazz improvisation, classical music and electronic sounds. The music is influenced by spiritual ethnic music and sufi traditions and alternates between meditative sound escapes and strong unison rhythms. The result is a unique music style and an exciting blend of numerous cultures. The ensemble aims at creating a unique concert experience by working with recognized guest soloists such as Maher Fayez & Ali Al Haggar and Ali El Helbawi& Mohamed Mounier&Marwa Nagy and Monika George (vocals), Prof. Ines Abdeldaiiem (flute) and the great Sufi Singer Sheikh EhabYounis. Elegant lighting and visual illustrations as well as high quality sound also play a crucial role in supporting the musical vision of Cairo Steps during their live performances.

The band has played numerous concerts in Egypt and Europe with musicians and artists from around the world including performances shown on international live TV broadcasts. Currently Cairo Steps is pursuing their work of crossing boundaries by working on a special collaboration with the Egyptian Mega Star Mohamed Mounir
