About this product

• Capoten is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, and moxibustion problems caused by diabetes, and to improve health after a heart attack. Capoten contains the active ingredient captopril, which is an angiotensin-converting enzyme blocker. Thus, it lowers high blood pressure and helps return it to its normal levels.

Dosage and method of use:

Adult dose:

To treat high blood pressure:

• The usual starting dose is 12.5-25 mg twice a day.
• Your doctor may gradually increase this dose up to 100-150 mg.

To treat heart failure:

• The usual starting dose is 6.25 - 12.5 mg two or three times a day.
• Your doctor may gradually increase this dose to a maximum of 150 mg per day.

Use in diabetic patients:

• The usual dose is 75-100 mg daily.

Children's dose:

•  The starting dose is 0.3 mg/kg divided into 3 equal doses daily.
• This can only be gradually increased by a doctor.
• For children with kidney problems, premature infants, newborns and infants.
• The starting dose should be 0.15 mg/kg.

Elderly dose:

• Patients usually start at 6.25 mg twice daily.
• Warning: It is preferable that the dosage be determined by a specialist doctor or pharmacist.

Indications:

• Treating high blood pressure (hypertension).
•  Heart failure treatment.
• To protect your heart and blood vessels from further damage after a heart attack.
• To protect your kidneys if you are diabetic.
