"وكانت ارادتی نهبا بين حاجتي وحيائي، يتجاذبائها فيما بينهما كما تشد خيطا من المطاط بين ذراعيك فيمتد ثم ينقطع متى فرغت طاقته.. وأخيرا كان للحاجة النصيب الأكبر من إرادتي لأني استرجعت الصورة المؤثرة التي ودعتني بها أسرتي ، وتمثلت بوارق الرجاء التي رأيتها على وجه ابوي في نور الصباح الريفي الساذج، فسرت متثاقلا .. ..حكاية شاب من اسرة فقيرة ، يسعى تحت ضغط الفاقة بعد انحدار الحال بوالده في طلب الرزق من أجل أن يؤمن لأسرته بعضا من مطالبها، وفي رحلة هذا الكد تمتد عناصر الصراع في الرواية حين يخترق قلب الشاب سهم الحب ويتعلق بابنة ولي نعمته، فهل يلتقيان في مطلع شمس محبتهما؟ أم أن لقاءهما وداع بعد الغروب؟ "
