Jordan Spieth has one green jacket.
Now the young Texan has his own signature shoe.
Spieth, 23, the 2015 PGA Tour Player of the Yearand the winner of the Masters and U.S. Open that year, unveiled the Spieth One golf shoe in an elaborate launch event Tuesday in chilly Tokyo. The event is part of a multi-country global tour that has Jordan visiting Japan, South Korea, Los Angeles and Mexico in the upcoming weeks.
Developed and manufactured by Under Armour, the Spieth One is waterproof and features what the company says is groundbreaking rotational resistance traction, which prevents the rotation of the foot during the swing from load up to impact. The one-seam upper of the Spieth One is composed with a single seam, reducing layers and weight.
“It’s very personal,” Spieth told the Japan Times. Part of the event included Spieth giving lessons to youngsters. “It was a great collaboration with myself and our team at Under Armour to develop personal characteristics of my game and my swing to create something that’s innovative, that’s comfortable and that’s a little different. I think we came up with a fantastic model.”
