The X2 Hot Pro Irons are among the most affordable players’ irons that will be available in Callaway’s 2014 lineup and are sure to deliver outstanding feel, reliability and precision with only yards you could dream about...until now.To increase distance over last season’s X Hot irons, Callaway designed the X2 Hot Pro irons with an extremely deep undercut behind the face that not only goes along the bottom, it also goes underneath the topline. The X2 Hot Pros have slightly smaller heads, less perimeter weighting and less offset than the X2 Hot irons. They feature a bar along the lower portion of the back of the club, extending from the heel to toe, that lowers the center of gravity and increases forgiveness. According to Callaway, golfers should be able to draw or fade the ball more easily with the X2 Hot Pro.Callaway also made the face and the sole of the X2 Hot Pro irons thinner to allow the face to flex more effectively at impact, subsequently providing more ball speed. At the risk of the irons feeling and sounding clanky due to thinner faces, Callaway then gave the X2 Hot Pro irons an extensively computer-modeled large chevron shaped stabilizing arch to functionally reinforce the face and still provide good feel and sound. Also, the soles in the X2 Hot Pros are now thicker in the center and thinner in the heel and toe giving them an enhanced turf interaction.Callaway designed the X2 Hot Pro to provide more distance. It has a thinner face than last season’s X Hot Pro, so better players are still going to get more ball speed with the newer model.
