VP80ES protects against brute force attacks and BadUSB attacks with digitally signed firmware. Brute force protection encrypts the drive if the admin and user passwords are incorrectly entered 15 times in a row by default. The drive is FIPS 197 certified with 256-bit XTS-AES encryption using a Common Criteria EAL5+ (CC EAL5+) certified security microprocessor and is TAA compliant.

An administrator can enable a user password and set security options such as configuring password requirements by setting a maximum number of shared attempts, a minimum password length of 6-64 characters, and alphanumeric password rules. In addition, you can use the "space" character, which makes it easier to remember the password as a list of words, a memorable quote or lyrics from a favorite song. Or you can use the dial pad to enter a PIN just like a mobile device to unlock the drive and reduce the number of failed login attempts and frustration by tapping the eye button to display the entered password.

An added feature for forgetting a user password is an administrator password that can be used to access data and restore user access.
