Description The D-Link Generation DGS-1210 (available in the market since 2018) offers more powerful hardware, greater port flexibility and more features. The DGS-1210-52 (HW Revision F1) is a 52-port L2/L3 Gigabit Ethernet Smart + Managed Switch with no fan, suitable for SMB and Enterprise Enterprise networks. It has 48 RJ-45 ports, 10/100/1000Base-T and 4x Gigabit Combo RJ-45/SFP ports where SFP slots are two-speed and support Gigabit SFP and Fast Ethernet SFP modules. The Switch DGS-1210-52 offers IPv6 support and an advanced set of L2 features such as VLAN virtual networks, QoS service quality features, LACP line aggregation, IGMP Snooping for multicast video streaming, 802.1x Radius and ACL security features, Spanning Tree STP/RSTP for circular topologies and MSTP for loop control separately in each VLAN. Also supported is L3 static IPv4/IPv6 routing, which is designed for routing between VLANs and allows to set up four IP interfaces. The capacity of the routing table is 124 IPv4 resp. 50 IPv6 records.
Voice VLAN detects IP phone connections and automatically assigns them to a separate VLAN with higher priority. The new feature is a unique Surveillance mode that can detect IP camera systems (IP cameras, NVRs) from different vendors using MAC addresses, LLDPs and ONVIF protocols and automatically assign them to a separate high-priority video-VLAN. The switch also displays network topology directly in the web interface of the switch. This greatly simplifies and speeds up deployment and management of enterprise network and IP camera systems.
Manage the switch is from an intuitive web interface or SNMP commands. Compact Telnet CLI commands allow basic switch settings (IP address setting, password, reset, reboot, ping, FW upgrade, configuration upload/backup, show, debug). Dual Image and Dual Configuration support lets you load two firmware or configuration files into the switch. Firmware upgrades or changes to network settings do not have to be done immediately but can be postponed.
There is also a free D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) software tool that offers basic management and supervision over multiple network switches. The DNA tool scans the network and finds the switch even if its IP address (such as the default IP address) is not in the same L2 segment. Subsequently, basic settings, switching to workgroups, and bulk management, upgrade, or backup can be performed. In large enterprise networks, you can manage switches centrally using the advanced NMP D-View 7 platform (free for 25 devices, more info and online demo on)
