TASCAM has been revolutionizing PORTASTUDIOs since they invented them decades ago. TASCAM’s PORTASTUDIOs have remained the ideal scratch pads and easy-to-use home recording devices. Utilized by seminal artists and home for legendary albums throughout the years, TASCAM has stayed true to manufacturing rugged, compact, feature-rich song-writing and demo tools. One of TASCAM's latest, the DP-008EX 8-Channel Effects Fueled Pocket Studio, an ideal scratch-pad for all songwriters and bands alike.

Take it with you anywhere to record and demo CD-quality audio up to 2-tracks at a time on the fly. TASCAM built in convenient front-loaded condenser mics for quick on-the-spot recording when inspiration surprises you. The mics have been modeled after TASCAM's top-selling DR series used by professional field recordists across the globe. So, you can be assured you're receiving top-of-the-line quality sound. On the rear of the unit you will find 2 TRS inputs to plug in instruments and/or dynamic mics directly, 2 XLR inputs with 48V Phantom Power and RCA output for monitoring.

Design, Portability and Ease

TASCAM has maintained status as the preferred line of multi-track recorders and a lot of that success is due to the usability. For years TASCAM has been tweaking and perfecting the user-interface on their portastudios and recorders to ensure that it's the easiest to use in the market. These devices are not menu-intensive and designed to function like analog multi-track recorders with the main controls (level, pan, reverb send, trim, punch-in/out, etc) all kept on the outside of the unit for direct access. For those of you that are already familiar with other TASCAM recorders, you'll know how to use the product right out of the box. For you brand new users, it's easy to learn and you'll be recording confidently within minutes.

The DP-008EX is highly portable, operate off of 4 AA batteries (included) or an external power supply. To increase reliability, product longevity and portability TASCAM chose SD cards (2 GB SD card included) as the media of choice. For stress-free transfer of songs and tracks, USB connection is built-in.

Built-in Mastering and Input Effects

The DP-008EX is equipped with built-in effects to tailor your sound even further. Perfect your tone on each channel with 2-band EQ, Compression, a De-esser, an Exciter and 6-different types of Reverb. The DP-008EX also allows you to take your recording one step further with on-board mastering, auto-analysis and effects. The mastering effects include 2-band EQ, Multi-band compressor and Normalize effect. Anyone using the DP-008EX can easily master tracks in a single step with the Auto Analysis Mastering tool. Simply select the mastering style (Natural/Maximum) then the DP-008EX will make the calculation based on analysis of the song data.

The DP-008EX is an ideal scratch-pad for the traveling musician, songwriter or beginner musician. With a plethora of effects, inputs and easy-to-use controls, the DP-008EX will tailor itself to your styles, songs and locations.
