Undead Labs included the Breakdown and Lifeline DLC packs with the Year-One Survival Edition. Breakdown strips out the story missions from the game, allowing players to simply create their own community of survivors and try to last as long as they can. Once you've accumulated enough supplies, you can "escape" to a fresh version of the world with a higher difficulty level.

Lifeline brings players to a new setting: the city of Dan forth. The player controls a military unit called Greyhound One charged with keeping order. They have to keep the civilians in their base alive long enough until they're evacuated. Greyhound One also has to defend against periodic raids by the undead that become progressively harder over time. It's an inverse of the normal: you start out with a lot of military equipment, instead of nothing, and have to deal with your supplies dwindling over time.
