About this product

• Tensopleron is a diuretic that contains the active ingredient eplerenone. Each film coated tablet contains either 25 mg or 50 mg of the active ingredient eplerenone. The concentration of the drug reaches in the blood in a period ranging from one to two hours, and it is excreted in the urine by 67%, in the urine, and by 32% in the feces.

Dosage and method of use:

• Tensopleron is taken as prescribed by the doctor.
• Swallow the tablet whole with plenty of water.
• Aplerenone is usually taken with other medications to treat heart failure, such as beta-blockers.
• The starting dose is usually one tablet of 25 mg once a day, and after 4 weeks it is increased to 50 mg once a day (in the form of one 50 mg tablet or two 25 mg tablets).
• Tensopleron is taken at a dose of 50 mg twice daily, in the treatment of cases of high blood pressure. And the dose cannot be increased to more than 100 mg per day.
• Blood potassium levels should be measured before starting treatment with paplerenone, during the first week and one month after starting treatment or after changing the dose, the dose may be adjusted by your doctor, based on the levels of potassium in the blood.
• In patients with mild renal disease and in patients with mild to moderate liver disease no adjustment to the starting dose is required.
•  If you have kidney or liver problems, you may need to have your potassium levels checked regularly.
• Elderly: No adjustment in starting dose is required.
• For children and adolescents: Eplerenone is not recommended.

Indications:

• Eplerenone belongs to a group of medicines known as selective aldosterone antagonists. These substances block the action of aldosterone, a substance produced inside the body that controls blood pressure and heart function.
• High levels of aldosterone may lead to changes in the body that may cause heart failure.
• Eplerenone helps prevent the deterioration of heart function after a heart attack by using it with other medicines used to treat heart failure.
• Tensopleron is used to treat high blood pressure.
