    وصف مكتبة أَلِف

With its imperfect but charming heroine and its witty and subtle exploration of relationships, Emma is often seen as Jane Austen’s most flawless work. Now, with the BBC’s superior adaptation, this captivating story is sure to win the hearts of countless new fans. Beautiful, smart, rich-and single-Emma Woodhouse is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage. Nothing, however, delights her more than interfering in the romantic lives of others. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegée, Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Emma by the flawless Romance goddess, Jane Austen, is a novel set in early nineteenth century Surrey about a girl called Emma Woodhouse. Miss Woodhouse is a young, wealthy, beautiful girl who grew up with her father - her mother died when she was young, who spoilt her – yet not in a very bad way – she is still loved by everyone in town. Emma Woodhouse is what we would call here “Khatba.” She thinks she is a good matchmaker, a cupid, but really she sucks! One time she “thought” that some gentleman and her governess would be a suitable match, and they did get married; however, we cannot really give Emma credit for making that happen. At that point, Emma thought herself to be the best “Khatba” in the country and went about trying to help all the bachelors get married. She was young and naïve, she understood the “signals” in a completely wrong way and messed everything up! So instead of helping people in her town get married, she would help them get heart-broken. She actually decided to give up the idea of marriage herself – to live with her lonely father - and instead help other people find love – exactly like what Egyptian girls would do. Just like in any other Romantic novel or Jane Austen novel, to be precise, people change after falling in love. Emma is no exception, she fell in love with the only person worthy of her who her father would agree to give her up to (I’m won’t spoil it for you). When she fell in love herself, her personality developed and she became more mature. Besides, after experiencing love and knowing its worth, she discovered that she cannot just decide who would be suitable for who; she has to give up her matchmaking – her horrible matchmaking – (thank God!) and leave people to just fall in love however they like. Emma, the novel, is extremely interesting and funny. One of Jane Austen’s best. Actually, one of the best novels in the whole Romance genre. I would definitely recommend you take it with you to read on the beach.
