Burdock is a plant. The root is sometimes used as food. The root, leaf, and seed are used to make medicine. Many plants in the Burdock family classification have powerful phytochemicals and are used in traditional medicines. Some of the more commonly known Burdock cousins include chamomile. Burdock root carries numerous compounds that are known to have been anti-oxidant, disease preventing, and have health promoting properties.

Dosage:
-We recommend using 2.5g of finely chopped or coarsely powdered Root per cup of tea (1 teaspoon of powdered Burdock Root weighs approximately 2 grams).
-It is recommended that the tea be infused in cold water first (for up to several hours) and then boiled for up to an hour and finally passed through a strainer. This long process serves to increase the bioavailability of some of the active ingredients
Precautions:
-Burdock may cause an allergic reaction in people sensitive to certain flowers and herbs. When applied to the skin, it can cause a rash.
- Taking burdock along with medications that also slow clotting might increase the chances of bruising and bleeding (diclofenac, Ibuprofen...etc.)
