.Arduino Mega 2560 Chinese clone is the Chinese version of the Italian Arduino Mega. Similar to the Italian version you can power it via the USB connection. Also, you can power it with an external power supply. The Mega selects the power source automatically.
Arduino Mega 2560 external (non-USB) power can come either from an AC-to-DC adapter (wall-wart) or battery.
You can plug a 2.1mm center-positive adapter plug into the Arduino Mega 2560’s power jack. Or you can connect leads from a battery to the GND and Vin pin headers of the POWER connector.
The Arduino Mega 2560 can operate on an external supply of 6 to 20 volts. If you supply the Arduino with less than 7V, the 5V pin may supply less than five volts and the board may become unstable.
If using more than 12V, the voltage regulator may overheat and damage the board. The recommended range is 7 to 12 volts.
Arduino Mega 2560 contains everything you need to support the microcontroller. To start, simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery. The Mega is compatible with most shields designed for the Arduino Duemilanove or Diecimila.
The ATmega640/2560 which is the microcontroller used in the Arduino Mega 2560 is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller using the AVR enhanced RISC architecture. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, the ATmega640/2560 achieves throughputs approaching 1 MIPS per MHz allowing the system designer to optimize power consumption versus processing speed.
As for the Arduino Mega Italian version, the ATmega640/2560 AVR and accordingly the Arduino Mega 2560 Chinese clone is supported with a full suite of program and system development tools including: C compilers, macro assemblers, program debugger/simulators, in-circuit emulators, and evaluation kits.
