Players progress through the game by winning throw downs. The more accurate you dance, the more points you earn. As you progress, the difficulties get harder, forcing you to enact complicated moves. The game also features a “Throwdown” mode, and “Keep the Beat”, and “Make your Move” mini games. For those who are new to dancing games, Dance Central 3 also features a beginner mode. Play party mode lets different people dance to random songs, whose difficulty level goes up and down depending on how well you are performing.

Campaign mode sees the return of a majority of characters from the preceding games. You choose your crew and engage in throw downs to win the battles. In a hilarious twist, travel back in time and learn authentic disco moves of the 70’s, hip hop moves of the 80’s, grooves from 90’s till today. With that knowledge, travel in the future to defeat your nemesis Dr Tan in the future “Tantopia” to set everything right. The game features over 40 foot taping chart busters for you to master. You can even import content from previous two games, or download songs and moves from Xbox Live at additional costs.
